History of LtS
« on: November 05, 2015, 02:29:28 PM »
I was wondering how this forum got started, and which of the current members were involved. Would anyone be willing to tell us the story? Or share a link if it's already posted somewhere?
Always be ready to give a reason for the hope that is in you, but do it with gentleness and reverence. --1 Peter 3:15-16

I've been a member for almost five years, too! It's truly amazing how time flies. This forum has been an invaluable resource to me, especially in terms of finding others who use NFP and thus not feeling like a lone weirdo. :haha:

Thanks! So who were those 5 people? Did you/they know each other in real life? What inspired the idea? How did you manage the tech aspects? Does the forum cost anything? If so, who pays it?

I don't have any reason for asking except curiosity, and gratitude since I benefit so much from this community.

I think the 5 people were Kristin and her husband and the 3 other women on the council. I believe Kristin and her husband pay to keep this site running.

I believe the council and a few other original members knew each other online from a different forum and branched off to make this one.

Yep, DH and I budget in the expenses as part of our tithing. We felt that was better than fundraising considering it wasn't a very big amount. Approx. $140/yr. Every few years the Amazon store kicks back a $10 contribution too.

The founding members were Myself, Kara, Tara, CC, and Larissa....right? Am I missing anyone girls? Or miss remembering??? We all met at a forum called ChristianFamilyPlanning.net To my knowledge they no longer have their forum open, but I think they have a small Facebook group now instead.

I keep forgetting about our Amazon store!!!     I think there are a few others involved in the foundation of the forum, but not in leadership roles.  Still,  everyone in the beginning I know we are all grateful for!!

Yes :) we made this as a catholic resource since other methods allow barrier use, withdrawal, ect so other forums naturally discuss that often.
